Underpricing Your Services? Here's How to Price Like the Expert You Are

Let’s talk about what starting a business actually looks like. Ya ready for some truth bombs? The truth is that initial hustle isn't forever, but it is non-negotiable. To achieve true freedom, you have to build your business like a flywheel. Think of a massive, heavy flywheel: it takes an immense initial push to get it spinning, but once it’s in motion, the momentum keeps it going with very little effort. This is the business flywheel effect, and it's the secret to sustainable success.

You don’t build freedom by skipping the foundation. You build it by pouring your energy and resources into the right things early so your business doesn’t become another full-time job you hate. When I launched my real estate business, I wasn’t winging it. I built it like the business I wanted it to be. That strategic planning and time I invested before the bookings ever rolled in? It’s the reason I now run a high-performing 7-figure business in just a few hours a week.

The Founder's Paradox and the Hard Push

Have you ever felt like you're caught in the founder's paradox? It's the moment your dream business turns into something that starts to make your heart sink. The excitement wears off. The dread sets in. And it becomes a relentless taskmaster, leaving you with less freedom than your old W2 job. This is the truth most people won't tell you: the reason you're trapped is because the upfront effort you put in wasn’t strategic. How do you stop this from happening? You apply an intense, focused period of effort to build a rock-solid foundation.

This is the messy, uncomfortable part. It's the time you actively work to make sure your business won't rely on your constant presence. This is where you create systems, hire the right people, and make decisions that future-you will thank you for. This intense upfront work is what builds momentum, allowing your business to become the well-oiled machine you envisioned.

Building Your Business Flywheel Effect: Phase by Phase

To make your initial push count, you have to be intentional. It's not about being busy; it's about making every action a deliberate step toward building momentum. I use a three-phase approach to make sure my efforts always propel me forward.

Phase 1: The Build (Systems & Processes)

This is your most crucial mission. You can't just cross your fingers and hope for the best.  You need to build a system that prevents fires from starting in the first place. This means creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for every repeatable task in your business.

It might feel tedious and slow at first, but documenting everything - from client onboarding to content creation - is the work that saves you countless hours of chaos down the road. It ensures consistency and quality, no matter who is doing the work. This is the core of building the business you want, the business that is sustainable, instead of the business that starts to weigh you down.

Phase 2: The Automate (Leveraging Technology)

In this phase, you identify the systems you’ve built that can be handled by technology. The tools available today are incredible and can free you up to focus on the high-level work that only a CEO can do. This is about working smarter, not harder. Tools such as Zapier or Notion are great for this. These automation tools are like putting oil in your flywheel - they reduce friction and increase efficiency.

Phase 3: The Delegate (Finding Your "Who")

You simply cannot do it all on your own. Trying to is the fastest way to burnout. The final phase of the hard push is delegating tasks outside your genius zone. This is a core part of strategic entrepreneurship because it's about leveraging the expertise of others.

For my business, I brought on experts like my team of concierges and former Airbnb customer service reps. Their insider knowledge took my business to the next level. By leveraging the wisdom of others who have gone before you, you can fast-track your results and avoid the mistakes that cause so many entrepreneurs to stumble.

The Payoff: Endless Momentum and True Freedom

Once your flywheel starts to turn, the momentum builds, and the rewards start to show up. The systems you’ve built take over. Your A-Team handles the day-to-day. The processes you designed now work for you. This is the business flywheel effect in action - the payoff for all your initial, strategic effort.

The time I invested in the beginning is what now gives me my time back. The work I did in the "messy beginning stages" is why I can run a business with no burnout and no 24/7 chaos. It's a testament to the power of building with intention. So if you’re in the messy beginning stages right now - keep going. Do it right. Think like a CEO, not just a host or a founder. That upfront effort is your greatest investment. You’ll thank yourself later.
